How to use the lab

Welcome to your guide of JJ Thompson's products, services, prices and tips which will enable you to get the most from our laboratory.

We have successfully dominated the orthodontic laboratory business now for over 50 years. The confidence our clients place in us to turn out a superior range of appliances on time, every time, is fundamental to our success. We hope you will decide to make us your provider of prescription appliances. 

Below are a sample of questions we are most frequently asked by clients wishing to use us. If you have not used us before, we hope you will find the answers helpful. Should you however have a question or need a quotation for an appliance that is not listed here, then please ring 0114 2759585 and advice will be on hand.

Do I need to give you advanced notice before sending work to you?

No

Do you accept impressions?

Yes. We recommend that they are wrapped in damp cotton gauze and placed in a self - seal plastic bag to keep them moist during transit. Postage paid bags and boxes are provided on request.

What is the turnaround time?

7 -10 days, but we will work to your time - frame should this not be acceptable.

What about urgent work?

Retainers repairs and all other urgent work is usually completed in 24 hours. There is no extra charge.

Can I leave the design of the appliances to you?

Yes.

How are my appliances delivered?

It varies. We reconcile the volume of work with the importance of urgent delivery. A Suitable method of dispatch is then chosen. This can be either 1st class post, Royal Mail Special Delivery or the services of a reputable courier. Our prices include delivery costs within the United Kingdom.

How do I settle my account?

You will receive a statement at the end of each month. Payment is due 21 days from receipt of this.

Do you do 'home visits'?

Of course. If you would like a member of our laboratory team to visit you, we will be happy to arrange this at your convenience. 

Do you have a discount scheme?

Yes. 'Sound Bite' is the name of our laboratory discount scheme. It is based on the monthly value of your account with us. As your laboratory bill will be variable, so is our scheme. Any discount earned is automatically deducted from the balance on your monthly statement.

'Sound bite' applies to most purchases from the laboratory's published price list, and is applicable on monthly laboratory expenditure.
