2. Before you start
eXceed utilises state-of-the-art software platforms therefore there are certain system requirements that need to be in place in order for you to be able to use eXceed. Google Chrome needs to be installed as your web browser.
Hardware requirements: a dedicated video card with DirectX 11 and Pixel Shaders 3.0 support. The eXceed software was tested successfully on Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 graphic card, Parallels (last version) and Windows 7. The graphic card must support Direct X11 and Shader 4.1 or above.
3. Getting started
As part of the order process you will need to upload digital files of your patient. For this a .STL file format is required. We accept .STL files from any intra-oral or desktop scanner, provided the quality is good and there are separate files for the upper and lower arches in correct occlusal orientation. Moreover, eXceed has a direct integration with the iTero, CS 3600 and Trios intra-oral scanners, which means that you can easily order a scan to be sent to us without having to manually upload the files.
JJ Thompson are able to offer a scanning service if you are unable to provide a .STL file. Once we have captured your files, we upload them and attach them to your case on eXceed once you have placed your order. Please contact us for more information on this service on 0114 275 9585 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. Bracket Information
As well as .STL files, we also require detailed bracket information. Part numbers for each individual bracket need to be sent to us via the PDF form below, which can be downloaded and emailed, or printed.

IPlease email your completed form to email@example.com or post a hard copy to J J Thompson, 95 Hill Street, Sheffield S2 4SP. eXceed has an extensive library of brackets and is compatible with almost all straight-wire systems so in most cases we will have your brackets available. In the unlikely event that we haven’t, we have the facility to scan your brackets. Alternatively you can opt to use our in-house brackets which can be supplied in either metal or ceramic. We are also able to make up a kit that includes arch wires and elastics. Please contact us for more information on these services on 0114 275 9585 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that your bracket information is required to complete the set-up of your account.
5. What happens next?
Once your account is set up, you will receive a password that will allow you to access ‘my eXceed’ your own private section of the eXceed website. At this stage, if you haven’t already experimented with the eXceed demo software you will need to install it. The ‘eXceed software download’ is available from the Resource Centre on the eXceed website at www.exceed-ortho.com/tech-center/. If you have already downloaded the software, you can enter the site using your unique user name and password instead of using the demo login information. There are also two essential user guides to download from the Resource Centre:
- ‘my eXceed PDF user guide’ a step-by-step guide to setting up your cases
- ‘eXceed PDF software user guide’ a guide to the software controls.
We will then send you pre-addressed boxes for you to post your brackets and buccal tubes to us. We keep an inventory of your items and will inform you when stocks are low. If you are using our model scanning service you can also use these pre-addressed boxes to send us your impressions. You are now ready to place your first order.
6. Ordering and Delivery
An eXceed Rx order has four stages to submission and an eXceed Tx order has five. eXceed Tx also requires submission of patient facial and intra-oral photos, as well as a panoramic X-ray. Full details of each stage can be found in the ‘my eXceed PDF User Guide’ available at www.exceed-ortho.com/tech-center/ If you are submitting your case without .STL files, the lab will be notified and your .STL files will be attached once you have placed your order. Please note that when you submit a case you are then liable for all production costs in full. An eXceed Rx placement plan can take up to 4 working days and for an eXceed Tx placement plan, please allow 6 working days. Once you have approved your virtual plan, production of the trays begins. The trays will be posted out to you within 3 working days of completion. Delivery costs are dependent on your location and we will contact you to discuss this.
